Well, I just got back from my interview at Albany prison for the psychology assistant's post. Even tho I just experienced the nightmare scenario of being interviewed by a panel of PSYCHOLOGISTS who could probably tell that I was an idiot the minute I walked thru the door, I am tentatively confident that it went well. I spied the list of interviewees and it looks as tho there were 10 of us so I guess it's all down to the competition now although it would appear that there are 3 jobs going which gives me a better chance of nabbing one.

The job I actually applied for involves working with sex offenders and carrying out programmes to try and help them address their offending patterns in order to, well I guess, make 'em stop (if that's possible)! The only thing is, one of the jobs going is for Parkhurst prison and that is working on programmes with violent offenders. I did notice that the panel kinda perked up when I said that my dissertation had been on ViSOR - the Violent and Sex Offender register. They asked if I would be willing to take any of the vacancies and now I suspect that if I am going to be offered any of the jobs it might be that one. I'm not sure how I feel about that but I do know that I want to come off the bloody dole so I guess that means that I'll take it.

Please, please Fate let me get an interview/get offered the Environmental Health job. The interviews are next Friday so if I don't hear by Monday at the latest I can safely assume that my lack of science qualifications has ruled me out of that one. I've got a Bachelor of Science degree but it's a humanities rather than a science based degree...

On a positive note, the prison said that they would sponsor me if I did get the job and wanted to get my psychology degree in order to progress up the ladder and work towards becoming a fully fledged psychologist. Sounds interesting dunnit?

I gotta say, that prison was MAN CITY. The prison officers I saw were all a bit tasty. Perhaps it won't be so bad after all :)
